Watch: Detroit Red Wings Goalie Coach Talks Prospects
Detroit Red Wings goalie coach Jeff Salajko talks about the development camp and some things he noticed from the attendees.
Six goalies attended the Red Wings development camp in Traverse City, Michigan. They ranged from recent draftees to free agent signings. Over the course of the five days, the players participated in on-ice and off-ice workouts. Here’s what Salajko had to say and hear from some of the prospects themselves.
A Closer Look
Kaden Fulcher
The 18-year-old was a camp invitee and was not drafted by the Red Wings. He plays for the Hamilton Bulldogs in the Ontario Hockey League where he had a .891 save percentage this past season.
Keith Petruzzelli
As one of the top-ranked North American goaltenders in the 2017 NHL Draft, Petruzelli is going to be one to watch for in the future. The Massachusetts native will spend the 2017-18 season at Quinnipiac University playing college hockey.
Chase Perry
A 2014 fifth-round draft pick, Perry has spent time at the collegiate level, including a stint at RPI this past season. He posted a .906 save percentage in 28 games played.
Filip Larsson
Larsson will look to have a strong season in the United States Hockey League this season as he will be a member of the Tri-City Storm. The 18-year-old has spent his entire playing career, thus far, in Sweden.
Matej Machovsky
Machovsky was signed in May by the Red Wings as he looks to make some noise in the organization. The Czech goaltender will likely spend his time this season in the ECHL with the Toledo Walleye. If he performs well enough, maybe we will see him making his NHL debut in seasons to come.
Here’s one of his best saves for HC Plzen, the team he played for last season in the Czech Republic.
