The Detroit Red Wings development camp had one of its biggest days as the prospect scrimmage was held on Sunday.
The prospects attending the camp were split into two teams, Team Zetterberg and Team Kronwall. As for the scrimmage itself, the two teams played for two 25-minute periods with a shootout proceeding the end of the first half.
Here are the highlights from the scrimmage. Hear from Dennis Cholowski, John “Jack” Adams, Reilly Webb, Cole Fraser, and Keith Petruzzelli as well.
Team Zetterberg took the win as they received goals from David Pope, Dominik Shine, and Oliver Castleman. Adams assisted on two of the goals, Pope and Alex Peters also recorded assists.
Team Kronwall’s lone goal was scored by Tomas Dvorak, which was assisted by Sean Josling.
Adams and Pope were tied for most points in the scrimmage with two points apiece.
Petruzzelli had a big outing as he was a stone wall in the shootout portion of the scrimmage. The athletic goaltender is looking like a real promising prospect for the Wings. He was ranked as the second best goaltender in North America in the 2017 National Hockey League Draft board.

This could turn out to be the Wings best pick of the 2017 draft. Petruzzelli could prove to be a potential starting goaltender in the NHL. He will play at Quinnipiac Universtiy this season.
The Red Wings first round pick in the 2017 draft did not play. Michael Rasmussen had a season-ending wrist injury that appears to still not be 100% yet.

There appears to be a lot of players to be excited about and it will be interesting to see if some of these players will be donning the red and white in future seasons ahead.
