Find out what a TSN expert has to say about the Detroit Red Wings draft picks and more in Saturday’s links.

Button Offers Take on Red Wings Draft Situation

TSN’s director of scouting, Craig Button, talked with DetroitRedWings.com about what he thinks the Red Wings should do with their top pick.

"“What they’re hoping to do is to potentially get a player like Dylan Larkin, who went 15th (in the 2014 draft), and then becomes a player after one year at Michigan, he had a terrific debut in the National Hockey League,” Button said. “They’re going to have to plan for two years with a player like this (from this year’s draft) because you have players at different levels of physical maturity."

With 11 picks in this year’s draft, it will certainly be interesting to see who the Wings pick up.

Mitch Callahan On His Way Out?

Grand Rapids Griffins right-winger, Mitch Callahan, may be on his way out of the Red Wings organization as he said farewell to Griffins fans on Friday.

Callahan has appeared in five National Hockey League games in his career. Four of which were with the Red Wings this past season. For the Griffins, the 25-year-old produced 43 points in 66 appearances.

The Red Wings official Twitter account retweeted his Tweet thanking fans, which likely means he will be heading somewhere else this summer.

No Movement From the Front Office

No moves from the front office before the trade freeze went into effect on Saturday.

The expansion lists will be revealed on Sunday, June,18 in the morning, which will answer the question on which players were protected and which one’s were exposed. The Las Vegas Golden Knights will reveal their selections at the National Hockey League Awards Show on Wednesday, June, 21.

Today in Red Wings History

Sergei Fedorov was selected by the Red Wings on June 17, 1989, in the fourth round of the NHL Draft. A good reminder that sometimes the guys chosen in the later rounds can become big time players.
