Daniel Alfredsson’s Top 5 Plays
With Training Camp and the new hockey season creeping slowly upon us it is time we look at what the new additions to the Red Wings will bring to the table.
In honor of the Detroit Red Wings signing Daniel Alfredsson, we decided to put together a Top 5 and show how he will be able to improve the Red Wings.
#5 – Daniel Alfredsson’s 1000th Career Point
Not exactly a highlight reel goal. but it shows that Alfredsson brings a lot of experience and points to the Detroit Red Wings. He will fit in very well with Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, who are still working on making it to a 1000 point.
#4 – Penalty Shot Goal
He does not have the same hands that Pavel Datsyuk, but he is smooth and has good moves when needed. He could be the new addition to the shootout line-up now that Valteri Filppula and Damien Brunner are no longer in Detroit.
#3 – Deflected Short-Handed Goal
During a time when the Ottawa Senators needed a goal in order to stay in the game it was Alfredsson who came through in the clutch.
Alfredsson knew exactly where to be and is willing to crash the net in order to help his team. You can tell he spent his career in the Eastern Conference.
#2 – Power Play Goal
Now we will take a look at Alfredsson’s ability as a sniper and this is a perfect clip to do so. Ottawa was on the power play and the second period was coming to a close, but he stayed calm and roofed a shot over the right shoulder of Carey Price.
The Red Wings’ power play has been average at best, but the addition of Alfredsson could put an end to the adequacy.
#1 – Huge Slap Shot
Alfredsson has always had a big shot regardless of whether it is a wrister or a slap shot and it will now be a part of the Red Wings’ weapons next season.
Despite his age, Alfie’s shot has not diminished and if the Red Wings wanted they could play him on the point and use his shot to their advantage.
Welcome to the Red Wings, Daniel!
