Joining the Octopus Thrower in early March is Monica McAlister. Monica grew up in Michigan a life long hockey fan that watched the local Flint Genrals as a kid along with the ‘hometown’ Detroit Red Wings. Living outside of Washington D.C. while attending George Mason University for Sports Management Monica got into hockey writing with The Hockey Writers and even started with the Fansided network as lead writer over at Howlin’ Hockey | A Phoenix Coyotes Blog before eventually becoming part of the Octopus Thrower.

Along with finding Monica here at the Octopus Thrower you can find her volunteering her time with the American Special Hockey Association (ASHA) and writing the morning column for The Hockey Writers – From Abdelkader to Zuccarello. She also contributes over at True Hockey and Pro Hockey News.

Monica was chosen by Hendricks Hockey as a Hockey Girl of the Week in early April 2011.
