The final four rounds of the National Hockey League draft saw the Detroit Red Wings draft three defensemen.

A total of five picks were selected in the final four rounds by the Red Wings. Here’s a look at each selection.

Malte Setkov

Setkov is a big defenseman at 6’6″ and 192 pounds. He plays in Sweden for the Malmo Redhawks. This past season he switched between playing for the J18 and J20 teams. In 38 appearances for the J20 side, he had 12 points with two goals and 10 assists.

The big defenseman should be another player that the Red Wings will hope develops into an NHL caliber player. He joins a solid group of defensive prospects the Wings are beginning to put together.

Cole Fraser

Fraser is a teammate of Red Wings’ third-round selection Zach Gallant for the Peterborough Petes. The defenseman had 19 points in the Ontario Hockey League this season with six goals and 13 assists.

The Petes talked more about the prospect in their draft preview.

"“Cole is ranked 197th among North American skaters. He is described as a physical, stay-at-home defender with good size and strength; he utilizes his strength and physicality to be tough to play against; he won’t be outworked in position and/or puck battles.”"

John Adams

A right-winger from Boxford, Massachusetts, Adams is committed to play for Union College. He had 60 points in 56 appearances for the Fargo Force in the United States Hockey League in the 2016-17 season. The 60 points consisted of 37 goals and 23 assists, he was the USHL’s top scorer.

Reilly Webb

The Canadian defenseman has dealt with injuries the past two seasons but produced one point in 12 appearances this past season.

When he joined the Hamilton Tigers of the Ontario Hockey League, his coach had this to say about him.

"“Reilly brings excellent size, mobility, and physicality to our group. He has the ability to move and shoot the puck very effectively. We look forward to him contributing to our program this season.”"

Brady Gilmour

The final selection in the 2017 draft for the Red Wings was Gilmour. He’s a left-handed center who had 47 points in 65 appearances for the Saginaw Spirit in the OHL.
