Is a trade for a first-round pick on the horizon? and the Las Vegas general manager is excited about his team. This and more in Tuesday’s Detroit Red Wings links.

Cholowski and Smith Invited to Canada World Junior Camp

Red Wings prospects, Dennis Cholowski and Givani Smith, have been invited to Hockey Canada’s World Junior camp in July. The two will participate in the camp that will take place at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.

Both Cholowski and Smith finished the season with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Red Wings looking for another first-round pick?

Jeff Marek, of Sportsnet, is reporting that the Red Wings may be interested in acquiring another first-round draft pick.

"We keep hearing Detroit may be looking to add another first-round selection, perhaps to take a goalie."

The Wings have the ninth pick overall in the 2017 National Hockey League Draft. Perhaps, the goal was to get rid of either of Petr Mrazek or Jimmy Howard in the Expansion Draft. But Mrazek was the more appealing of the two, so it would make sense if this was the logic behind the move made on Sunday.

Red Wings in the Mix for Spencer Foo

Around the League

Las Vegas Golden Knights general manager, George McPhee, is excited about his team’s outlook in their inaugural season. He talked to Nicholas Cotsonika of NHL.com about how things are going.

"“I think it’s going to be a pretty good team,” McPhee said, smiling. “We’re happy that we’ve got a lot of defensemen, we’ve got really good goaltending, we’ve got a lot of centers and we’ve got scoring on the wing. We should have good speed.”"
