Once again Pavel Datsyuk is tied with Sidney Crosby at number one in the ratings, but they ranked Crosby as the better player in most of the areas. The area where Datsyuk makes up the ground on Crosby is in the Physical section, Crosby is ranked as a 75 in durabilty and Datsyuk is an 88.

Crosby has been given better shot accuracy and power. I guess the EA crew did not watch these goals from the playoffs.

Datsyuk over Hiller’s shoulder.

Datsyuk over Crawford’s shoulder.

If they had seen those goals they would know that you can count amount of players who can pull off a shot like that on one hand and most likely less than that.

Two other Red Wings made EA’s top 50 list, Henrik Zetterberg came in at number 14 with a 90 rating and Niklas Kronwall debuted at number 32 with a 89 rating.

I was a bit surprised that Jimmy Howard did not make the top 50 list while Carey Price and Pekka Rinne were ranked 16 and 30 respectively.

There are people who would not place him in the same category as either of them, but I certainly would. Howard and Lundqvist were the only two goaltenders to rank in the top 10 in GAA and SV% the past two seasons. Jimmy is one of the main reasons the Red Wings made it into the second round and almost beat the Chicago Blackhawks.

How do you feel about EA’s rankings? Did they get it right or wrong?
