Petr Mrazek is one of the Detroit Red Wings hottest prospects and the Wings’ goalie of the future.

He is the starting goaltender for the Griffins, in the AHL, and sports a record of 18 wins, 9 losses, and 1 shoot-out loss.

On March 6th, he took to Reddit and answered some fan questions using the Griffins’ Reddit username. Here are the highlights.

nahanahs - Can you describe the general difference in average skill between each league? How much faster is each league than the level before it? Do you have any problems adjusting to the speed between leagues?

GriffinsHockey – NHL is harder in front of the net. AHL faster because they’re younger guys who want to show up. ECHL isn’t much different because you have to stop the puck everywhere. No problems.

MolotovBeta - Do you have any strange pre-game rituals? Apparently many goalies do.

GriffinsHockey - I don’t have anything special. Nap and just go and play.

jakemyers7 - Do you trust your eyes with Dr. Ramani?

GriffinsHockey - Sure, like every player.

Al_Bagel - Hockey goalies have a reputation for being somewhat weird. Do you think you fit the stereotype, and if so why?

GriffinsHockey - Players think goalies are weird, but we think players are weirder.

meyerjv87 - Do the goaltending coaches work with your game, or do they try to get you to play a certain way?

GriffinsHockey - We work before the game and at practice, we keep my style, just work on getting better at it.

plytvanim_the_world - Your favorite post game meal?

GriffinsHockey - Besides a puck, pasta with alfredo sauce and chicken.

jakemyers7 - Who is the Griffins; biggest practical joker, best roommate, and most serious? Who would you rather not face in a shootout: Nyquist, Tatar, or Jurco?

GriffinsHockey - Triston Grant, Adam Almquist, Jeff Hoggan. All three I would take. At the same time.

To remain in the loop on future Q&A sessions with the Griffins, follow them on twitter @griffinshockey and if you would like to see the rest of his answers check out the full thread HERE.

Jonas Gustavsson started his first game of the season on February 17th with the Grand Rapids Griffins, while on a conditioning stint with the team.

This was Gustavsson’s first game since he was injured during the Red Wings season opener against the Blues. He turned away 26 of 27 shot and helped the Griffins secure a victory. The groin injury that has been bothering him seems to be in the past and he is looking forward to seeing work with the Red Wings.

With Gustavsson back in Detroit Petr Mrazek has been reassigned to the Griffins. Mrazek was solid for the Red Wings in his two games at the NHL level. He showed that he has the ability to become the goaltender of the future for the Red Wings and that future could come sooner than you think.

The good part of having Mrazek in Grand Rapids is, he will receive more time between the posts; which improve his development more than charting face-offs in Detroit.

Detroit has its Monster back and Grand Rapids brings back one of their stars.
