The World Junior Summer Showcase was back in action on Tuesday evening at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.

It was a big win for Team USA White over Team Canada Red as the Americans rolled to an 8-2 victory.

The U.S. ran away in the first period scoring five unanswered goals to take a commanding lead at the first intermission. Logan Brown led the way with two goals in the opening period.

Canada Red would score the only goal of the second period and were able to keep the Americans scoreless after a poor showing in the first period.

Detroit Red Wings 2016 first round draft pick Dennis Cholowski would pick up an assist on Canda’s first goal of the third period as the defensive prospect tallied his first point of the competition.

However, the U.S would pull away in the third scoring three more goals. Casey Middlestadt was among the third-period goalscorers for the Americans as he capped off a fine performance with three points on the night.

Jake Oettinger got the win in net for USA White. He stopped 22 of the 24 shots he faced.

Michael Rasmussen was featured on Canada’s roster tonight and registered one shot on goal as well as a first-period high-sticking penalty. Choloswki finished with one assist and one shot on goal.

Team USA White has been the most exciting team to watch thus far at the World Junior Summer Showcase. They have won of three of their games as a unit. With Tuesday being the last time the Americans go with split squads, it will be interesting to see if some of the lines change for the upcoming games.

The full U.S. squad will take on Sweden on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Fans can watch the game live on NHL Network. Canada faces the Americans on Friday.
