Welcome to the thirteenth issue of The Avengers: Red Wings Initiative. Last week, we jumped back in after a quick Guardians of the Galaxy break to find the crew discussing Jonathan Ericsson‘s craziness.
This week, you get my favorite panel I have drawn. It cracks me up just thinking about it. I hope you enjoy it.
Just for reference, what Tony Stark actually says in the movie is, “It’s good to meet you, Dr. Banner. Your work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled. And I’m a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster.”
It just works so well with Darren Helm. He rarely finishes on his breakaways, and can’t you imagine a Tony-Stark-esque Assistant Captain Kronwall being a jerk and saying something like the above? It would also be his delivery of the line.
…I’m thinking way too much into this. Basically, I hope you got at least a chuckle. There’s a comic very similar to this that will be one of the last ones posted that takes a one-liner and hockey-fies it. That one involves Pavel Datsyuk.
We are coming down to the last handful of these and I will admit to you that there is one scene someone wanted me to draw that I never managed to figure out. It’s with Tony Stark/Captain America/Bruce Banner trying to figure out Nick Fury’s intentions. It all came down to someone wanting Kronwall’s Stark to offer blueberries like he does in the movies. I just couldn’t come up with good/funny dialogue and since this whole thing doesn’t really have a plot, I didn’t want to do a serious Issue. I know better for next time.
Come back next week when Mike Babcock starts using references that no one seems to understand. Well…except for one guy.
If you have any ideas of things you might want to see in the upcoming issues, leave them in the comments below! I’m always open to suggestions. Next Installment: Wednesday, August 20!
