Detroit Red Wings Re-Sign Riley Sheahan For Two Years

Before free agency began the Detroit Red Wings made a qualifying offer to Riley Sheahan to keep him as a restricted free agent and today the Detroit Red Wings have re-signed Riley Sheahan to a two-year deal worth $1.9 million.

Riley Sheahan played fourty-two games with Detroit last year because of all the injuries down the middle of the ice and was able to post twenty-four points in the regular season.

Sheahan was in the top four among rookies in points per game with an average over .5 points per game and he could improve on that number this season.

This deal is good for Detroit because Sheahan will once again be a RFA when this deal is over, which will give the Red Wings a break cap hit-wise with the young center.

With Riley Sheahan signed, the Red Wings now have $13.77 million left to re-sign Danny DeKeyser and Tomas Tatar and bring a free agent or two into the mix.
