While the deal has not be finalized, yet, Jonas Gustavsson and the Detroit Red Wings have agreed on a one-year contract extension.
Per #RedWings GM Ken Holland, “it appears we’ve agreed to a one-year deal” with G Jonas Gustavsson. Official announcement coming soon.

Jonas Gustavsson is coming off a two-year 3 million dollar deal with Detroit and one of his best NHL seasons as a goaltender. Because of that he will not be taking a decrease in salary and will actually receive an increase in his salary according to Ansar Khan and Chuck Pliness
Wings and backup goalie Jonas Gustavsson agree on 1-year deal, Ken Holland confirms. No decrease in salary, so $1.5 million or higher. — Ansar Khan (@AnsarKhanMLive) June 19, 2014
Gustavsson won’t get a decrease in his $1.5 million salary from last year but an increase.

We do not know exactly how much of an increase Jonas Gustavsson received with the new deal, but it is safe to say it will be in the $500,000 to $1,000,000 range, which with the salary cap rising to between $69 million and $71 million feels about right for a back-up goaltender.
Gustavsson is coming off one of his best NHL seasons and the Detroit Red Wings had a record of 16-5-4 while he was between the pipes.
Injuries are a big concern with Gustavsson, who missed most of his first season with Detroit dues to various injuries and this past season was no different. If Gustavsson misses a significant amount of time with his off and on again groin injury the Red Wings have one of the best third goaltenders in the NHL in Petr Mrazek.
Jonas Gustavsson is nothing more than a stopgap for the Detroit Red Wings and Petr Mrazek will join the team full-time in Detroit next season, but this is the best situation for the Detroit Red Wings to be in.
The Wings are able to make sure Petr Mrazek is is overripe and ready to challenge Jimmy Howard for the starting job in the 2015-16 season, while Gustavsson provides a strong back-up option for Detroit next season.
UPDATE: It is official. Jonas Gustavson signed with the Detroit Red Wings for one year at $1.85 million.
