Three Detroit Red Wings saw action in day ten of the 2014 World Championship in Minsk, Belarus.
Danny DeKeyser was on the ice for USA, Gustav Nyquist was on the ice for Sweden, and Jakub Kindl was on the ice Czech Republic. Justin Abdelkader of USA had the day off because of a suspension, while Tomas Tatar and Slovakia had the day off because there was no game.
USA was up against Finland and Sweden played Canada at 9:45 a.m., while the Czech Republic battled Denmark at 1:45 p.m.
USA vs Finland
Danny DeKeyser had 22:05 minutes of ice time, sat for two minutes in the penalty box, and was a plus two. DeKeyser has played better after being moved up next to Seth Jones and the two defenseman are working well together.
In the third period, when the US was trying to hold onto their one and two goal leads, Peter Laviolette turned to Danny DeKeyser. DeKeyser had move minutes than any other defenseman in the third period and ended up playing 10:18, just over half the period.
USA beat Finland 3-1.
Sweden vs Canada
Gustav Nyquist had 16:20 minutes of ice time, placed one shot on net, picked up an assist, and ended the game a plus one. Having Nyquist on a line with Calle Jarnkrok and Linus Klasen has provided dividends for Sweden and they are producing on the ice.
Sweden lost to Canada 3-2 in overtime.
Czech Republic vs Norway
Jakub Kindl had 19:30 minutes of ice time, placed one shot on net, and was even in the game. Kindl continues to be a steady force on the blue line for the Czechs and he had the third most minutes among the Czech’s defensemen. He still has to work on his defensive play and was not as big of a force offensively for the Czechs, but he is playing well.
The Czech Republic bested Norway 1-0.
