Two Detroit Red Wings saw action in day nine of the 2014 World Championship in Minsk, Belarus.
The Czech Republic battled Denmark at 9:45 a.m., while Slovakia was up against Italy at 1:45 p.m.
Czech Republic vs Denmark
Jakub Kindl had 22:17 minutes of ice time, placed three shots on net, and scored a goal. Kindl’s 22:17 minutes of ice time was good enough for third on the team and second among defensemen. Kindl has been steadily improving for the Czechs, but was on the ice for two of Denmark’s three goals, one was scored while the Czechs were on a penalty kill.
The Czech Republic lost to Denmark 4-3 on the shootout.
Slovakia vs Italy
Tomas Tatar had 15:54 minutes of ice time, registered one shot on net, picked up an assist, and scored a goal. Tatar scored in the second period on a nice pass from Michael Miklik and then rewarded Miklik by setting him up for a goal in the third period. The third was a busy period for Tatar, who received a penalty shot later in the period in which he made too many moves and deked himself out and at the end of the game he took a roughing penalty.
Sweden beat Slovakia 3-1.
