Three Detroit Red Wings saw action in day seven of the 2014 World Championship in Minsk, Belarus.
The USA was up against Latvia and Sweden battled France.
USA vs Latvia
Justin Abdelkader had 15:09 minutes of ice time, placed three shots on net, and picked up an assist, but was a minus two in the game. Abdelkader was a passing machine on the ice for USA; he found his teammates in perfect shooting areas and kept feeding them any chance he could. Late in the third period, Abdelkader was a part of a reffing controversy; Abdlekader was ran over when the puck was not around him, but no call was made.
Danny DeKeyser only had 14:36 minutes of ice time because he spent most of the second period serving a Checking to the Head and Neck Area penalty, which comes with a two-minute penalty and a ten minute misconduct. Peter Mueller served DeKeyser’s two-minute penalty and DeKeyser had to sit in the box for twelve minutes helplessly watching his teammates on the ice.
The USA lost to Latvia 5-6.
Sweden vs France
Gustav Nyquist had 15:44 minutes of ice time, won a face-off, and registered one shot on net, but was a minus one on the game. Nyquist did not have his best game and his puck control seemed faulty at best, pucks bounced off his stick and had a couple untimely turnovers.
Sweden beat France 2-1.
