Highlights - 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Game One - Detroit Red Wings At Boston Bruins

The Detroit Red Wings match-up well against the Boston Bruins and pulled out a one to nothing victory in Game One of the series.

Both teams showed nerves in the first few minutes of the game, the Red Wings more than Boston, but Tuukka Rask and Jimmy Howard came up with big saves on both sides of the ice.

Jimmy Howard was a brick wall in net and made some insane saves for the Detroit Red Wings. In the third period, the Bruins were on the power play and Carl Soderberg had a chance to put the Bruins up a goal, but Howard scrambled to make the big save to keep the game tied at zero.

While that was a great save, there was no bigger save than the one Jimmy Howard made on Milan Lucic. Lucic tipped Jarome Iginla‘s shot on net, but Jimmy Howard got enough of the puck with his glove to knock the puck away from the net. This save led to Datsyuk’s game winning goal.

Even Datsyuk was a fan of Howard’s game.

Pavel Datsyuk made an incredible individual play by reaching back with his stick and pulling the puck in front of him, while skating past three Bruins. Datsyuk then skated the puck into the zone, let Justin Abdelkader engage the defenders, and blasted a shot past Rask for the goal.

This goal turned Pavel Datsyuk from The Magic Man to just plain Magic. It was so incredible Logan Couture chimed in on twitter.

Both teams received incredible play from their goaltenders and had chances to score big goals, but at the end of the day it was the Detroit Red Wings who came out with the victory.

There is still a long road to travel in the series, but this is a great building block for Detroit and could be the start of a great Playoffs series.
