Quack Quack | Detroit Red Wings Vs Anaheim Ducks Game Preview

The Detroit Red Wings stay at the Joe to take on the, Hansel’s so hot right now. Anaheim Ducks series at 7:30 p.m. EST.

The Red Wings have dropped five games in a row and things are not looking worse by the game. Detroit has scored a whooping 5 goals in their past five games, which have all been losses for the Wings. The Red Wing need someone to step up and without a lot of key players it all falls on the shoulders of Datsyuk.

The Ducks however have mustered a meager 18 goals in their past five games and not surprisingly they have won every one of those games. Jonas Hiller will most likely receive the start tonight in net and he has been incredible in his last 5 outings; the Red Wings need to get him off his game if they want a W today.

Projected Line-up

Forwards

Tomas Jurco – Pavel Datsyuk – Daniel Alfredsson

Drew Miller – Joakim Andersson – Tomas Tatar

Daniel Cleary – Luke Glendening – Patrick Eaves

Todd Bertuzzi – Riley Sheahan – Mikael Samuelsson

Defensemen

Jonathan Ericsson – Niklas Kronwall

Brendan Smith – Kyle Quincey

Jakub Kindl – Brian Lashoff

Goaltender

Jonas Gustavsson

The Red Wings have a 66-34-7 overall record against the Ducks and have a 78.3% winning percentage at Joe Louis Arena.

Since 2010, the Red Wings are 6-4-0 against the Ducks, which does not include the 7 game playoff series the Red Wings won, and it will be their first meeting this season.

Johan Franzen was given a forearm shiver by Radko Gudas, who was not given a penalty for his action, and will be out for tonight’s game.

Franzen joins Justin Abdelkader, Henrik Zetterberg, Darren Helm, Stephen Weiss Danny DeKeyser, and Jimmy Howard on the disabled list. It is not a good time to be a Red Wing.

Riley Sheahan has been called up to Detroit to cover for Franzen, but will most likely see action on Detroit’s fourth line only.

Joakim Andersson and Luke Glendening will most likely jump up a line and we will see what Andersson can do as the #2 center.

Without Franzen, Zetterberg, and Helm the Wings are not as skilled and cannot rely on talent to propel them to a victory.

The Wings will need to grind out tonight’s game and play smart defensively by not letting players get behind them or cough up the puck in wrong areas.

Petr Mrazek was left of to dry in his second game of the season and the Wings will turn back to Jonas Gustavsson to provide them with a much needed win tonight.

Prediction: The Ducks are rolling along while the Red Wings are dying, which means that the Wings will pull a win out of their hat tonight. Wings win 2-1.

[UPDATE] Gustav Nyquist did not go through the morning skate and will probably not play tonight.
