Mrazek's Night | Detroit Red Wings Vs Tampa Bay Lightning Game Preview

The Detroit Red Wings take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in a home back-to-back series at 5:00 p.m. EST.

The Red Wings have dropped four games in a row and things are not looking good. If Detroit is going to pull out of this slump they will need a big game from Petr Mrazek and Pavel Datsyuk, but they will need contributions from every line to snap out of this funk.

The Lightning will be rolling into tonight’s game with a lot of confidence after dispatching the Red Wings in the shootout. The Wins will need to keep an eye on St. Louis and learn to beat Ben Bishop or it will be another rough night for the Red Wing fans.

Projected Line-up

Forwards

Todd Bertuzzi – Pavel Datsyuk – Daniel Alfredsson

Gustav Nyquist – Johan Franzen – Tomas Tatar

Drew Miller – Joakim Andersson – Daniel Cleary

Tomas Jurco – Luke Glendening – Patrick Eaves

Defensemen

Jonathan Ericsson – Niklas Kronwall

Brendan Smith – Kyle Quincey

Jakub Kindl – Brian Lashoff

Goaltender

Petr Mrazek

The Red Wings have a 25-7-2 overall record against the Lightning and have a 90% winning percentage at Joe Louis Arena.

Since 2010, the Red Wings are 3-1-1 against the Lightning and are looking for their first win against them this season.

Justin Abdelkader did not return to the game after the head shot he took from the Penguins and will probably be out of tonight’s game.

Tomas Jurco has been recalled from Grand Rapids and is expected to make his NHL debut tonight.

After the Wings suffered though Jonas Gustavsson‘s first two regulation losses of the season it is now up to Petr Mrazek to back stop the Wings.

In Mrazek’s only game this season he was able to squeak out a 5-0 victory against the fledgling Oilers, but tonight will be a tougher game.

The Drew Miller – Joakim Andersson – Tomas Tatar line will most likely be broken up again tonight if Abdelkader is out.

Tomas Tatar or Daniel Cleary will join Nyquist and Franzen on the second line and most people are hoping it will be Tatar, including me.

With Abdelkader out it should mean that Todd Bertuzzi will rejoin the Wings’ top line and play along Pavel Datsyuk and Daniel Alfredsson.

Prediction: When it rains it pours and right now the Red Wings are caught in a lightning storm. Wings drop tonight’s game 2-1.
