No Finnish | Detroit Red Wings At Tampa Bay Lightning Game Preview

The Detroit Red Wings head to Tampa Bay to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7:30 p.m. EST.

The Red Wings dropped two game to the Florida Panthers and will be looking to redeem themselves in Tampa and against a tougher team. Datsyuks had a solid game in his return to form, but the Red Wings will need to receive production from other players to win tonight.

The Lightning have dropped two straight games as well, both in overtime, and will be looking to bounce back as well. Filppula only has one point in the last 5 games for Tampa, but St. Louis is on a tear and will need to be watched closely by Kronwall and Ericsson.

Projected Line-up

Gustav Nyquist – Pavel Datsyuk – Todd Bertuzzi

Justin Abdelkader – Johan Franzen – Daniel Alfredsson

Drew Miller – Joakim Andersson – Tomas Tatar

Daniel Cleary – Cory Emmerton – Mikael Samuelsson

Jonathan Ericsson – Niklas Kronwall

Brendan Smith – Kyle Quincey

Jakub Kindl – Brian Lashoff

Jonas Gustavsson

The Red Wings have a 25-6-2 overall record against the Lightning and have a 73.5% winning percentage on the road against in Tampa Bay.

Since 2010, the Red Wings are 3-1-0 against the Lightning and the loss came earlier in the season at the Joe. The Wings have not lost a game in Tampa Bay since 2003.

Jimmy Howard was injured in practice yesterday and will sit out tonight, Petr Mrazek was recalled from Grand Rapids and will back up Gustavsson.

The injury does not change Mike Babcock’s plan in net though, it was always Jonas Gustavsson‘s night and Mrazek will back him up.

Darren Helm will not play tonight, but could return against the Penguins in Detroit.

Henrik Zetterberg has been placed on Long Term Injured Reserve and will not be eligible to return to the ice until December 28th.

Once again we will not see Stephen Weiss versus Valtteri Filppula because he is out for tonight’s game with a groin injury; they seem to be an epidemic in the Wings’ dressing room.

Gustav Nyquist will most likely join the first line with Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi, while Johan Franzen drops down to center the second line.

Drew Miller will rejoin Joakim Andersson and Tomas Tatar on the third line. The Griffin line played well last night, bu these three have a lot of chemistry as well.

With Weiss out Mikael Samuelsson will re-join the line-up tonight.

Prediction: The Red Wings need a win and despite the loss against the Panthers they did not play bad. The puck did not bounce their way last game, but tonight it will. 2-1 Wings win.
