The Detroit Red Wings are in Miami to take on the Florida Panthers at 7:30 p.m. EST. You can find Red Wings @ Panthers tickets here.
The Red Wings will be trying to recover after their loss to the Panthers at home by beating them on their home ice tonight. If the Wings come in tonight like they did their last two games then the Wings will be looking at another tough night, but if they play Red Wing hockey, then we could see a big win.
The Panthers took it to the Wings on Saturday, but were then destroyed by the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday and it will be interesting to see what team shows up tonight. Tim Thomas will most likely receive the start in Florida and will look to distract the Wings with his white neck protector and backstop the Panthers to another win.
The Red Wings have a 14-5-5 overall record against the Panthers and have a 75% winning percentage on the road against Florida
Since 2010, the Red Wings are 2-2-0 against the Panthers and have not lost in Florida since 2006.
Pavel Datsyuk returns tonight!
Jimmy Howard is frustrated that he did not get the start on Saturday against the Panthers and tonight he will get his shot to show what he can do. If Howard fails to play well in net, they might have to roll with Gustavsson for the foreseeable future or continue to switch games.
Saturday’s game was in no way Jonas Gustavsson‘s fault, he kept the Wings in the game and gave the team a chance to come back, but it did not happen.
Darren Helm is traveling with the team and could return to the line-up on the road trip, but most likely will not return until the Wings are back home.
For Henrik Zetterberg it will still be a week or so, but he will return with ample time before the Winter Classic.
Danny DeKeyser is looking to return a couple of games before the Winter Classic and the Wings could really use him on the blueline.
Prediction: The Red Wings want to rebound after a terrible game on Saturday, but with Datsyuk back in the line-up I see a win tonight. 3-1 Red Wings victory.
