Two Elusive Points | Detroit Red Wings Vs Nashville Predators Game Preview

The Detroit Red Wings are back in Joe Louis Arena to take on the Nashville Predators tonight at 7:30 p.m. EST.

The Red Wings dropped their sixth straight game in a row thanks to the Islanders and that coupled with the home losing streak makes the future seem bleak for Detroit, but it only takes one game to turn everything around. If they want to turn their future around they will need to play a full 60 minutes of hockey, close out the game in the third, and limit the mental mistakes.

Nashville has been struggling to score just like the Red Wings, but on Saturday they were able to score seven goals against the Chicago Blackhawks. Before Saturday, the Predators were on a four game losing streak and were able to only scored 2 goals in those games. The Red Wings would prefer to have the latter team show up tonight, but either way they can not allow Nashville to get easy shots on net.

Projected Line-up

Forwards

Henrik Zetterberg – Pavel Datsyuk – Todd Bertuzzi

Tomas Tatar – Darren Helm – Johan Franzen

Drew Miller – Joakim Andersson – Mikael Samuelsson

Daniel Cleary – Justin Abdelkader

Defensemen

Jonathan Ericsson – Niklas Kronwall

Danny DeKeyser – Jakub Kindl

Kyle Quincey – Brian Lashoff

Brendan Smith

Goaltender

Jimmy Howard

The Red Wings have a 58-40-4 record against Nashville and have won 70% of the games in Joe Louis Arena.

Last season, the Red Wings beat Nashville three times in four games to win the series and won both home games.

Detroit will be dressing seven defenseman and eleven forwards today, which means neither Stephen Weiss or Daniel Alfredsson are ready to return from their groins injuries, but Brendan Smith is ready.

Smith could receive sometime on the 4th line, but I doubt it will be much, if at all. In reality; Helm, Andersson, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg will share time centering the 4th line.

Jonas Gustavsson played a good game on Saturday, but the team was unable to secure a victory for him.

Jimmy Howard will receive the start tonight at home and the Red Wings will look at him to come up with some big saves while keeping them in the game.

Prediction: The losing streak has to end sometime and that sometime is tonight. 2-0 Red Wings victory
