Renaud Lavoie was the first person to break the news today that Jordin Tootoo had been place on waivers by the Detroit Red Wings.
Waivers: Amount Tootoo, Jordin DET Pinizzotto, Steven FLA

The Red Wings have been looking to trade Jordin Tootoo in order to clear up roster and cap space for the return of Jonathan Ericsson, but it seems that Ken Holland was not able to find a partner willing to take Tootoo. Because the Wings were not able to trade him they did the next best thing they could do and placed him on waivers.
If Tootoo clears waivers and heads to Grand Rapids, the Red Wings would clear $925,000 in cap space, but the other $975,000, that makes up his $1.9 million deal, would count against Detroit’s Salary Cap.
Tootoo was not able to produce any points for the Red Wings in his 8 games this season, but he did a fantastic job of fore-checking, back-checking, and wear down the opponents defense.
NHL teams have until noon tomorrow to claim Jordin Tootoo and if they do I will be sad to see him go.
