Preview: Wings Vs Rangers - Let The Goalfest Begin!

The Red Wings face up against the New York Rangers for the first time this season tonight at 7:00pm. So far, the Rangers have not lived up to the hype around them, going only 2-6-0 in the first eight games of the season. Both teams are coming off two-game losing streaks, but it’s the Red Wings who need to jump back into it after their terrible game against the Ottawa Senators.

Projected Line-up

Pavel DatsyukTodd BertuzziDaniel Alfredsson

Johan FranzenHenrik ZetterbergTomas Tatar

Dan ClearyStephen WeissJustin Abdelkader

Drew MillerJoakim AnderssonJordin Tootoo

Brendan Smith – Niklas Kronwall

Danny DeKeyser – Kyle Quincey

Jakub Kindl – Brian Lashoff

Jimmy Howard

Neither Patrick Eaves nor Darren Helm will be playing in Saturday’s game, but look for their return quite soon. Helm sitting this game is a precaution because of a tender groin, but don’t be surprised if he jumps back into action in the next game against the Vancouver Canucks.

Look for Howard to bounce back from that atrocious game against Ottawa. I love watching Howard in games right after terrible losses because he just looks like he’s ready to prove everyone wrong.

The Rangers haven’t been doing so hot lately. They will be battling for every inch of that ice. This is a team you don’t want to underestimate under any circumstances.

If you’re headed to the game tonight, don’t forget about the bone marrow drive! No, they won’t be stealing your precious bone marrow (there, at least), but you can get your cheek swabbed and be added to the Be The Match Registry. That’s pretty cool.

Prediction: The Red Wings are awesome and back in form. Splitting up Datsyuk and Zetterberg does wonders for Franzen, Weiss, and Alfredsson. 4-1 Wings victory.

And if you want a more in-depth look at the New York Rangers, take a look at John Evans’ Q&A with his friend Nick Pearl.

If something awesome happens in the game and you feel the need to tell me (because I will be at a wedding), don’t hesitate to scream it at me on Twitter. (And also, the title of this article is sarcastic, in case you didn’t get that.)
