Justin Abdelkader Injured

In the last minute of third period in the blowout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, Justin Abdelkader was hit high by Robert Bortuzzo, the Penguins defeseman, and he was not going to let it slide.

Abdelkader became tangled up with Bortuzzo and each player started shoving each other until Bortuzzo decided to drop his gloves. Abdelkader was over matched and late to dropping his gloves, which meant that Bortuzzo was able to throw more punches than Abdelkader.

At some point during the fight Abdelkader injured his left hand and required stitches after the game. It is not known whether or not Justin Abdelkader will miss anytime because of the injury, but having a top six forward out is not a good start for the Red Wings.

If Abdlekader does miss time, we could see Daniel Cleary next to Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. Mike Babcock was looking to put them together during Training Camp, but Abdelkader was playing so well with them that he did not want to break that up.

But without Abdelkader on the ice, Cleary will get the first shot.
