The Expendables: Patrick Eaves

With the additions of Daniel Alfredsson and Stephen Weiss through free agency, the return of injured players, and the promotion of player from the AHL the Detroit Red Wings will be looking to shed salary and create roster space.

Over the next week we will be profiling players who could be traded, placed of waivers, or sent to the AHL.

Why should the Red Wings keep Patrick Eaves?

He has become a fan favorite for Red Wing fans who rallied around him after his injury.

He is one of the best penalty killers on the team.

Provides solid second tier scoring for the Red Wings.

One of the few right-handed shots on the Red Wings.

Why shouldn’t the Red Wings keep Patrick Eaves?

Drew Miller signed a new three-year deal making Eaves expendable.

Eaves brings a lot to the team, but it is nothing that cannot be replaced.

There are concerns about his health, he has had two major concussions during his career.

The Wings have too many bottom six forwards and someone has to go.

Should he be a Red Wing at the being of the regular season?

Maybe. Eaves is a good player and Mike Babcock loves what he brings to the team, but the bottom six is very crowded at this time and sending Eaves somewhere else will free up some roster space and cap space that the Wings desperately need.

How do you feel about Patrick Eaves, should he stay or go?
