Since the Detroit Red Wings were eliminated from the Playoffs, the staff at Octopus Thrower have previewed prospects who the Red Wings could possibly draft with the 18th pick the the 2013 NHL Draft. We focused primarily on forwards because it is the biggest need for the Red Wings right now.

Forwards will be ranked higher than the defensemen for that reason and with three young goalies in the system in Jake Paterson, Jared Coreau, and Petr Mrazek; I doubt they will draft a goalie.

Now it is your turn to chose which player you think the Red Wings should take with the 18 pick.

The list is in order of who we believe the Wings should take before the other prospects.

Alexander Wennberg

Anthony Mantha

Frederik Gauthier

Ryan Pulock

J.T. Compher

Adam Erne

Josh Morrissey

Curtis Lazar

Kerby Rychel

Now that you have read what we wrote about each player, who do you want the Red Wings to draft?

Offense is a big need for the Wings, but they should never disregard the defense.
