Highlights - 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Game 7 - Detroit Red Wings vs Chicago Blackhawks

This season has been a crazy ride for the Detroit Red Wings and their fans, from the chance they not making the playoffs to contending to play in the Western Conference Finals.

With all the the Red Wings struggles in the third period this season, it was by far their best period in last night’s game. They decided that they wanted to win and were going to give it every last ounce of their being to make it happen, which help them tie up the game. Sadly for the Red Wings and the fans an overtime goal beat Jimmy Howard.

After Brent Seabrook‘s shot went off of Niklas Kronwall and into the net, Jimmy Howard went out and comforted the defenseman.

This is a time when Howard could have been angry at a deflection going in, but he knew how bad Kronwall felt and wanted to help him.

The Detroit Red Wings were not supposed to beat the Anaheim Ducks and they were not supposed to take the best team in the regular season, Chicago Blackhawks, to a game seven. Believe it or not, this was a successful year for a young team like the Red Wings and I expect them to be even better when next season rolls along.

A big stick tap from all of us here at Octopus Thrower for the Detroit Red Wings, thanks for a great season and we look forward to another one next year!

Howard is for sure a great goalie, but it takes a great man to be so forgiving like he was with Kronwall. It was a rough loss after the early lead we had in the series, but there is a lot of room for this team to grow and with Howard in net I am hopeful about the future. I missed the game because I work the late shift at DISH on Wednesdays, but thankfully I was able to catch up with a recording. I love how my DISH Hopper can record up to six shows at once during primetime, so my wife doesn’t have to stop my timers to watch TV anymore.
