The Detroit Red Wings have given away their 3-1 series lead against the Chicago Blackhawks and now have to head back to Chicago for Game Seven.
Detroit had a one goal lead heading into the Third Period courtesy of Joakim Andersson‘s knuckle puck, but they could not hold on for the victory. Third Periods have been the death of the Red Wings in the post-season, they have been out scored and out worked.
In a game where the Red Wings could end the series there was no sense of urgency.
Mike Babcock had some comments after the game.
The Red Wings made coverage mistakes and couldn’t get the puck through the shooting lanes, which led to all three of Chicago’s goals in the third period. I could comment of the officiating, but one thing I was taught was to play through the officials and Detroit could not do that last night.
Mike Babcock might like Game Sevens, but I know Red Wing fans are not too happy about that right now.
The Red Wings face-off against the Blackhawks on Wednesday, May 29th at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. For the full schedule visit our Playoff Schedule Page.
