The Grand Rapids Griffins finished off the Toronto Marlies in the Game 6 on May 21st.
The Griffins dropped game 1 to the Marlies, but came back to win games 2, 3, and 4 before losing 5.
Game 6 started off bad for the Griffins, who were down 2-0 at the end of the first period. The Griffins cut the lead in half in the second, but soon after the Marlies regained their 2 goal lead by making it 3 to 1. It looked like they Marlies were going to push the series to game 7, but the Marlies imploded in the last 10 minutes of the 3rd period. The Griffins tallied three unanswered goals and ended the Marlies hopes at advancing.
The Grand Rapids Griffins move on to play the Oklahoma City Barons in the Calder Cup Semifinals, which starts on Friday, May 24th at 7:00 p.m. Eastern at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.
