The Detroit Red Wings did not seem to be ready to play in Game One of the series against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Hawks dominated the play throughout the game and gave the Red Wings very few scoring opportunities. Despite that fact though, the Red Wings held on to a 1-1 tie going into the third period, but in the third the wheels fell off for the Red Wings and the Hawks capitalized.
Too everyone doubting Jimmy Howard, all you have to do is watch this game to see why the Red Wings gave him the contract that they did. He held the Wings in the game for as long as he could and I don’t blame him for one single goal in this game.
I mean seriously, just watch this glove save.
On a “What the heck NHL” note, it does not look like Andrew Shaw will be receiving a call about his elbow to the back of Kindl’s head.
I do not know how the NHL does not punish him for that because as Red Wing fans we all know Todd Bertuzzi was once punished for doing the same thing.
It is time to forget about this game though. The Red Wings have two day off before Game Two to recollect their thoughts and play better hockey.
Game Two is on Saturday, May 18th at 1:00 p.m. Eastern. For the full schedule visit our Playoff Schedule Page.
