Stanley Cup Playoffs: Game 4 – Red Wings Push To Tie The Series Tonight

The Detroit Red Wings take on the Anaheim Ducks at 8:00 p.m. EDT at Joe Louis Arena.

The Red Wings are coming off an embarrassing loss against the Ducks and two third period collapses. Detroit needs to find a way to win tonight because coming back from a 3-1 series deficit is not an easy thing to do and these Wings are not up for the task.

Anaheim has Detroit right where they want them, down in the series and reeling after a big loss at home. The Ducks will look to keep the pressure on tonight, which means the Wings have to be on top of their game tonight.

Projected Line-up

Forwards

Henrik Zetterberg – Pavel Datsyuk – Mikael Samuelsson

Johan Franzen – Valtteri Filppula – Daniel Cleary

Gustav Nyquist – Joakim Andersson  Damien Brunner

Patrick Eaves – Cory Emmerton – Todd Bertuzzi

Defensemen

Niklas Kronwall – Jonathan Ericsson

Brendan Smith  Kyle Quincey

Jakub Kindl  Brian Lashoff

Goaltender

Jimmy Howard

Red Wing, Justin Abdelkader was suspended for two games for his hit on Tori Lydman.

Jimmy Howard has had two subpar games in a row and will need to be much better tonight, the Wings live and die based on his play.

I am not sure about this, but the box score stated that Samuelsson played in the last game. I do not remember seeing him at all.

Without Abdelkader, Mike Babcock could split up Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

Just for fun here is a little rant Darren McCarty had on twitter last night.

What a f’ing joke – Abby gets 2 games for playing hockey how I grew up playing it. The way it should be played. I’m embarrassed by what the NHL has become and how Bettman hockey has infiltrated it. He’s turning hockey into ballet. He’s gonna get the boys wearing red and white tutus next. Abby – love ya kid, keep playing the game the way I showed you. And lastly, the fact that Perry walked away after he pulled off Howie’s helmet and no grabbed him up by his chin strap and wrapped it around his neck until his feet were flopping had me about to climb over the glass. The game has changed folks. DMac

The game certainly has changed, mostly for the health and safety of the players, but I do enjoy a nice McCarty rant.

Prediction: No prediction today, the Red Wings just have to win.
