Stanley Cup Playoffs: Game 3 - Show Your Support Tonight And Let The Octopi Fly

The Detroit Red Wings face-off against the Anaheim Ducks at 7:30 p.m. EDT at Joe Louis Arena a.k.a. Octopus Gardens.

After a big win for the Detroit Red Wings in Anaheim, which split the series at 1-1, the Wings are back in Detroit and looking to take the series lead. Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk, Johan Franzen, and the power play lead the charge and won the game for Detroit.

The Anaheim Ducks showed their colors at the end of the first when Saku Koivu took a run at Niklas Kronwall after the horn. The Ducks might be one of the dirtiest teams in the NHL, but they don’t go away easy either. With the Wings up 4-1, they battled back to tie the game before losing in overtime.

Projected Line-up

Henrik Zetterberg – Pavel Datsyuk – Justin Abdelkader

Johan Franzen – Valtteri Filppula – Daniel Cleary

Gustav Nyquist – Joakim Andersson  Damien Brunner

Patrick Eaves – Cory Emmerton – Mikael Samuelsson

Niklas Kronwall – Jonathan Ericsson

Brendan Smith  Kyle Quincey

Jakub Kindl  Brian Lashoff

Jimmy Howard

With Danny DeKeyser out for the playoffs with a broken thumb, Brian Lashoff returns to the line-up for his first playoff game.

Jimmy Howard needs to be better than he was at the end of the first period.

The addition of Todd Bertuzzi seemed to work well for the Red Wings, he brought physicality and experience to an inexperienced group.

Gustav Nyquist did not play many minutes in game two, but recorded the game winning goal and his first playoff goal.

Prediction: With octopi flying tonight in the Joe, the Red Wings will ride a wave of emotion to victory. Red Wings win 4-2.

UPDATE: Mikael Samuelsson will be on the ice tonight and Todd Bertuzzi will be scratched.
