Preview: Time For The Red Wings To Extinguish The Flames

The Detroit Red Wings head to Calgary to take on the Flames at 9:30 p.m. EDT.

The Red Wings are coming off of a big win against the Predators and move onto another big game against the Flames. In the past two games against the Flames, the Wings scored 3 goals to the Flames 9, which mean the Red Wings will have to get Franzen, Brunner, Nyquist, and Zetterberg going early.

This is the first game for the Flames against the Red Wings that captain Jarome Iginla is not in the line-up and the Flames will miss him. He was the leading force behind the Flames victories against the Wings and without him the Wings will be able to concentrate on putting the puck puck behind Kiprusoff.

Projected Line-up

Forwards

Henrik Zetterberg – Pavel Datsyuk – Justin Abdelkader

Johan Franzen – Valtteri Filppula – Daniel Cleary

Gustav Nyquist – Joakim Andersson  Damien Brunner

Drew Miller  Cory Emmerton – Patrick Eaves

Defensemen

Niklas Kronwall – Jonathan Ericsson

Brendan Smith  Kyle Quincey

Jakub Kindl  Danny DeKeyser

Goaltender

Jimmy Howard

Jimmy Howard has finally signed his 6 year deal worth $5.3 million per season.

The Red Wings are 0-2 this season against the Flames.

Danny DeKeyser scored his first NHL point against Nashville, hopefully on of many from him.

The first powerplay unit is really clicking with Jakub Kindl on the point and he is continuing to become a more confident defenseman.

Playoff standings – Detroit still sits in 8th place, but Columbus is now tied with them in points and Dallas is only two points behind.

Prediction: After a couple days rest the Wings will be energized and ready to go. Wings victory 2-1.
