Preview: Red Wings Look To Steal Points From The Blackhawks

The Detroit Red Wings head to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks at 8:30 p.m. EDT.

The Red Wings are coming off of a heartbreaking loss to the Sharks in the shootout, but did manage to pick up a much needed point. Mike Babcock’s new line changed did not last long and once the second period started they were switched up again.

Chicago is in the playoffs no matter what happens the rest of the season, but they are still fighting to keep the number 1 spot in the West. The Red Wings will have to put pucks past the best goalie tandem this season in Ray Emery and Corey Crawford, which will not be a simple task.

Projected Line-up

Forwards

Johan Franzen – Pavel Datsyuk – Justin Abdelkader

Valtteri Filppula – Henrik Zetterberg – Daniel Cleary

Gustav Nyquist – Joakim Andersson  Damien Brunner

Drew Miller  Cory Emmerton – Patrick Eaves

Defensemen

Niklas Kronwall – Jonathan Ericsson

Brendan Smith  Kyle Quincey

Jakub Kindl  Danny DeKeyser

Goaltender

Jimmy Howard

Jakub Kindl was promoted to the 1st powerplay unit and rewarded Mike Babcock with his first PP goal.

It is starting to look like Jimmy Howard will be finishing out the season in net.

Justin Abdelkader continues to produce on the top line, despite the fact he is not a top line player.

Random Fact – The Red Wings are 0-1-2 against the Blackhawks this season.

Prediction: The Wings are coming off of a loss yesterday and will be gassed; Chicago will take advantage of that and win 3-1.
