Preview: The Red Wings Want An Avalanche Of Goals Tonight

The Detroit Red Wings head to Denver to take on our old rivals the Colorado Avalanche at 9:00 p.m. EDT.

After an ugly ugly game for the Red Wings they have a lot to prove tonight. It seems that they like to play down to their opponents and that will likely doom their chance of making the playoffs if they continue to do that. It is time for the Wings to get rolling before the playoffs come around.

The Avalanche have not been playing well of late and have gone 2-8-0 in their last 10 games. The Avs are still a very dangerous team because of the offensive fire power from P.A. Parenteau and Matt Duchene, but the Wings should be able to control them as long as their are no defensive breakdowns.

Projected Line-up

Johan Franzen – Pavel Datsyuk – Justin Abdelkader

Valtteri Filppula – Henrik Zetterberg – Daniel Cleary

Gustav Nyquist – Joakim Andersson  Drew Miller

Patrick Eaves – Cory Emmerton – Jordin Tootoo

Niklas Kronwall – Jonathan Ericsson

Danny DeKeyser – Ian White

Jakub Kindl  Kyle Quincey

Jimmy Howard

Danny DeKeyser could receive his first start today since the defense played terrible last night.

It did not look like the groin problem was affecting Henrik Zetterberg and he could be back to full for soon.

If  Damien Brunner is able to go today Patrick Eaves will be scratched from the line-up.

The Wings will need a better game out of Jimmy Howard today; he did not play terrible last night, but he needs to be better.

Corey Emmerton had a phenomenal game and played very well on the PK starting to look a lot like Darren Helm.

Prediction: The Wings play down to the Avalanches level, but scrape out a win. Wings victory 4-3.

UPDATE: Both Kyle Quincey and Danny DeKeyser will be in the line-up tonight.
