The Detroit Red Wings host the Colorado Avalanche at Joe Louis Arena tonight at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

The Red Wings are coming off of an embarrassing lose to the Chicago Blackhawks, which saw they score 7 unanswered goals and Jimmy Howard being pulled from the net. Spoiler alert Jonas Gustavsson didn’t play any better. The Wings will have to come out with more energy against the Avalanche than they did yesterday if they want a shot at winning this one.

Colorado broke a four game losing streak on March 30th and are looking to crate a new streak tonight in Detroit. They have the fire power to light the lamp with P.A. Parenteau, Matt Duchene, and Gabriel Landeskog, but their goaltending is suspect and the Wings will need to take advantage of that.

Projected Line-up

Forwards

Johan Franzen – Pavel Datsyuk – Justin Abdelkader

Daniel Cleary – Valtteri Filppula – Damien Brunner

Gustav Nyquist – Joakim Andersson  Patrick Eaves

Drew Miller – Cory Emmerton – Jordin Tootoo

Defensemen

Niklas Kronwall – Jonathan Ericsson

Brendan Smith  Carlo Colaiacovo

Jakub Kindl  Ian White

Goaltender

Jimmy Howard

Henrik Zetterberg is out again with a groin injury and is listed as day-to-day.

Defenseman, Brian Lashoff has been assigned to the Grand Rapids to make roster space. He will be recalled on Wednesday when the roster limits no longer apply.

Carlo Colaiacovo returns for his first game after injuring his shoulder earlier in the season; his conditioning stint went well and he is ready to play.

The Red Wings will be looking for a repeat performance of Jimmy Howard‘s first game against Colorado, where he dominated in net and made key big saves.

Damien Brunner still cannot buy a goal and his drought now stands at 15 games.

Prediction: After an embarrassing loss yesterday the Wings will come out swinging against the Avs. Red Wing victory 3-1.

This video sums up my feelings from yesterday, hopefully they can do better tonight.
