The Detroit Red Wings face-off against the Phoenix Coyotes tonight at 10:00 p.m. EDT in Phoenix.
The Red Wings are coming off two big wins in Anaheim, which cause the second best team in the NHL to meltdown. Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, and even Teemu Selanne were all sent off with unsportsmanlike misconducts. The Wings did not have the best third period, but played well defensively and Jimmy Howard stepped up to make some great saves.
Phoenix is currently riding a five game losing streak and Mike Smith has looked more than human. The Coyotes’ big name players have not been producing as of late and it is hurting their chances, while the Red Wings big names continue to control the games and put shots on net.
Drew Miller scored the game-winning goal last night and continues to shine next to Zetterberg and Filppula.
Defenseman, Jakub Kindl seems to gain confidence in each game he plays and he is very good on the power play.
When this season is over Jimmy Howard will demand top dollar for his services and after games like these, he certainly deserves it.
Prediction: Every time the Red Wings play a team that is slumping, they play at that teams level rather than their own. No reason to think that will not happen again tonight, Coyotes win 3-2
