Preview: The Red Wings Are Ready To Get Wild

The Detroit Red Wings face-off against the Minnesota Wild, tonight at 7:30 p.m. EDT in Joe Louis Arena.

The Red Wings are coming off of two come from behind victories and are looking to keep their streak intact. Johan Franzen, Henrik Zetterberg, and Damien Brunner need to put a lot of puck on net if they want a chance at scoring. The Wings cannot just count on those players to produce though and will look at their 3rd and 4th lines to provide depth scoring.

Minnesota has won five of their past six games and are 1st in the Northwest division. The Wild’s additions of Zach Parise and Ryan Suter has been paying off for them and Detroit will have to pay close attention to them. In net Niklas Backstrom has had a very good season without much help from his backups, the Wings will have to test him early and often.

Projected Line-up

Valtteri Filppula – Henrik Zetterberg – Damien Brunner

Johan Franzen – Pavel Datsyuk – Justin Abdelkader

Gustav Nyquist – Joakim Andersson  Daniel Cleary

Drew Miller – Cory Emmerton – Jordin Tootoo

Niklas Kronwall – Jonathan Ericsson

Brendan Smith  Brian Lashoff

Jakub Kindl  Ian White

Jimmy Howard

Damien Brunner‘s goal drought continues to extend and is now at 10 games.

Brunner saw some time on the 3rd line against Vancouver, which gave Drew Miller a shot on the 1st line. Miller didn’t look overwhelmed or out of place.

The Red Wings’ defense played well against Vancouver and should continue to get better as the squad gels.

The Wings do not have any healthy scratches on offense tonight after Gustav Nyquist was sent back to Grand Rapids.

Prediction: The Wild are on a roll, but the Red Wings have gained a lot of confidence since the weekend, Red Wing victory 3-1.

Gustav Nyquist has been call up to replace Eaves in the line-up.
