Preview: Red Wings Battle For The Season Series Against The Jackets

The Detroit Red Wings head to Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets at 2:00 p.m. ET.

The Wings and Jackets season series is 2-1 with Columbus having the lead. The home and home weekend will decide the winner though.

Do not look now, but the Red Wings are on a bit of a roll; they beat the two teams they were supposed to (Edmonton/Colorado), took the best team in the NHL to a shootout, and beat a very good team (San Jose). The Wings are facing a team tonight who they have lost to in their past two meetings, games which they should not have lost.

Columbus heads into tonight’s game on a three game winning streak and their last five games have all gone to overtime. Lumbus is not a very skilled team, but are finding ways to beat better teams and are trying to crawl out of the NHL’s basement. Sergei Bobrovsky is back on the force in Columbus and is the reason Lumbus have won their last three games.

Projected Line-up

Forwards

Johan Franzen – Henrik Zetterberg – Damien Brunner

Daniel Cleary – Pavel Datsyuk – Justin Abdelkader

Drew Miller – Cory Emmerton – Jordin Tootoo

Tomas Tatar – Joakim Andersson – Patrick Eaves

Defensemen

Niklas Kronwall – Jonathan Ericsson

Kyle Quincey – Brendan Smith

Brian Lashoff – Jakub Kindl

Goaltender

Jonas Gustavsson

After an amazing few games in net, Jimmy Howard receives the rest he rightfully deserves and  Jonas Gustavsson receives the starts in net.

I am not sure our defense can play any better right now. At this point I do not see where Ian White or Carlo Colaiacovo fit with the team.

On the other side of the ice Justin Abdelkader scored his first goal of the season, on an empty net…

The Wings 3rd and 4th lines are dominating the opponents bottom lines and creating quality scoring chances.

Johan Franzen is creating a lot of chance for the top line, it is only a matter of time until Arby’s gets involved.

Prediction: After hitting the last prediction on the head, I am going to wing this one. Wing win 3–1.
