Preview: Red Wings Ready To Take On Former Teammate, Brad Stuart

The Detroit Red Wings head to San Jose to play the Sharks in their first meeting of the season at 10:30 p.m. ET.

The Red Wings need to be better while playing on the road. The Red Wings have tallied only 17 of their 57 goals on the road, with none of them coming while on the power play. Whatever this road funk the Wings are in, they need to snap out of it. They are not good enough this season to pull off a massive home winning streak.

The Sharks are coming off of a days rest and a shootout victory against Colorado. The Sharks also receive Ryane Clowe back from his two game suspension, I am sure he is totally reformed. Antti Niemi has been solid for the Sharks in net and is quietly having one of his best seasons. The Wings will need to put plenty of shots on net in order to get the puck past Niemi.

Projected Line-up

Johan Franzen – Henrik Zetterberg – Damien Brunner

Daniel Cleary – Pavel Datsyuk – Justin Abdelkader

Tomas Tatar – Joakim Andersson – Patrick Eaves

Drew Miller – Cory Emmerton – Jordin Tootoo

Niklas Kronwall – Brian Lashoff

Jonathan Ericsson – Brendan Smith

Kyle Quincey – Jakub Kindl

Jonas Gustavsson

After all his groin injuries Jonas Gustavsson will receive his first start of the season, barring any setbacks of course.

San Jose’s Brad Stuart will play against his former teammates for the first time. I miss you, Brad.

The power play once again let down the Red Wings on the road as they went 0 for 3 against the Kings.

The penalty kill was a bright spot for the Red Wings though, they killed two 5 on 3’s before th Kings were able to slide one behind Howard.

Ian White could return to the line-up tonight because Jakub Kindl has not been very good this season. If White doesn’t return to the line-up a trade maybe be in his future.

Prediction: The Red Wings play a full 60 minute game and score some goals on the road, at least one of which comes from the power play. 4-2 Red Wings victory.
