Injury Update: Samuelsson Out 2 Weeks With Broken Finger

Forward Mikael Samuelsson will be out a minimum of 2 weeks with a broken finger according to Red Wings’ GM Ken Holland who spoke with the Rogers Sportsnet Hockey Central At Noon crew in Toronto this afternoon.

Samuelsson was injured after taking a slapshot from Red Wings’ defenseman Ian White during the morning skate Tuesday.

With Samuelsson out of the lineup the Detroit injury list continues to mount.  The number of Red Wing regulars out of the lineup is now up to 7: F Todd Bertuzzi (back), Darren Helm (back), Carlo Colaiacovo (shoulder), Brendan Smith (shoulder), Jimmy Howard (upper body), Mikael Samuelsson (finger), and Johan Franzen (hip).

The Wings are still awaiting word on the extent of Jimmy Howard‘s injury who left last night’s game after experiencing blurred vision.

Detroit is back in action at home Thursday night vs. Columbus.
