As you probably know by now, the Wings have traded Brad Stuart’s rights to the San Jose Sharts, I mean Sharks, in exchange for Andrew Murray and a 7th round conditional pick. As the article states, the Wings are not going to sign Murray; he’s basically a throw in. My guess is so the Sharks can stay under the 50 man roster limit if they trade for other players. Not a bad deal, it just stinks that the Wings are losing two of their top 3 defensemen in one offseason. Hey Ryan Suter, I am willing to do anything to get you in Detroit. ANYTHING.
Let’s take a moment and remember some of the good times with Brad Stuart in Detroit, shall we?
Here’s Crosby’s ribs being broken:
Here’s Stuart being the Wings second best goalie:
Keep your head up and helmet strapped tight!
Here’s Larry Murphy explaining geometry:
Here’s Stuart destroying a future teammate:
Last and not least:
I could have posted a million more, but I think that’s a good start.
I understand that Stuart did not have a great postseason and it seems numerous fans wanted him gone. Had he resigned here, I guarantee that he would have gotten back to 2008 Stuart where he was rocking. He obviously had a lot on his plate and it showed on the ice. He was a great player and teammate for four and a half seasons and he will be missed.
Thank you, Brad Stuart.
