Game recap: NJ @ DET. Last home loss of the year, right?

Final score:
NJ- 2

“We were stretched last night to overtime and I thought we really pushed our big players hard last night. I didn’t think we had a ton of energy.” – Ice stare Mike

Well boys and girls, not much to say about this one. The visiting team lived up to their name, killed our buzz from last nights win. Its hard to be too upset, they played a long, tough game last night.  With that  loss, a clear scenario is set up for their final home game. Win, get 4th place. Lose, you may end up in 6th.

They came out swinging with some early chances and great passes. I really thought Val was gonna score tonight, he showed a lot of confidence in their zone, and looked hungry. Im also sick of watching them get burned in their own zone because of risky passes around the net.  Against the St Louis Who’s,  we had 4 more team giveaways than them.  Against the Devils, we had 3 more.  Maybe it’s just the playoffs being so close, but I don’t think we can let that stat continue to trend.

Remember how I pointed out the Blues out-hit the team by a 2 to 1 margin? Well, against NJ we outhit the devils 25-16. I know that’s not the biggest reason the team lost, but I hope bringing attention to this will silence all the people who complain that this team needs enforcers.

Last game of the regular season is Saturday, and we’re playing for home ice advantage. Get this win boys, beat your rival and get a strong playoff spot.

Lets go Red Wings!
