Greetings, all you fellow Wing nuts out there! Well, we had a great divisional battle here tonight. Earlier today, I was really worried that unlike all of their fans, the team was not entering the game with a playoff mindset. Im glad they got the memo. Tonight they chalk up a huge win on the road against our division rivals, and this years division winner. They didn’t start the game very strong. A couple of really untimely giveaways in our own zone that thankfully did not burn us, keeping us in a tight game.
I wish our D men would have not been so careless in puck chasing, we looked out of position far too often in the first 40 minutes of this game . Its been a long time since I’ve said this…but good ol’ 52 looked good tonight. Smart plays, and didnt let those pesky Blues push him around. Speaking of getting pushed around, the Blues outhit us by 24-12, doubling us. I would also like to point out the final score and remind everybody how meaningless secondary stats are to this team.
Im sick and tired of short handed goals. When did this team forget how to control the puck at the blue line? I hate seeing Howard left out to dry, whether it be a short handed situation, or just a defensive zone breakdown. On the topic of Jimmy,I think he made a terrific showing tonight, and he didn’t get rattled after letting in 2. Im sure I was not the only person who felt like the Wings were close to throwing in the towel, being down 2 late in the 3rd. Especially since it seemed that the Wings were determined to score from the point, despite the amount of times St Louis blocked this shot. This team needed to prove(if to nobody else but themselves) that they CAN win in a comeback on the road.
This team CAN turn on the jets and find a win.
I loved Franzen tonight, he looked angry out there. And who doesn’t want an angry mule on their side?
Late in the 3rd is his time to shine, thats for sure. I wish this WOULD have been a playoff game, just to see which team could grind
it out for longer. If late in the 3rd is Franzen time, then the shootout is Todd Time. The win tonight puts us past 100 points on the
season, and should give us some extra momentum for our final two games. Time to make the final tune ups for the playoff run boys.
Next game is Thursday, at JLA. Puck drops at 7:30.
12 in 2012, Lets go Red Wings!!!
