In case you haven’t heard yet, the Wings have recalled Gustav Nyquist (!!!). According to tweets from Helene St. James (Freep) Zetterberg and Bertuzzi are not practicing, so this is why my boy has been called up. Obviously, it stinks that Hank might be hurt, but trying to think positive here.
Nyquist (!!!) leads the Griffins in points with 54 (19-35-54) in 53 games. I’d consider that a success, especially since it’s his first pro season after playing three in college (which he totally owned, by the way – check the stats at hockeydb.com).
I’m hoping at this time, Nyquist (!!!) actually gets to play with some more offensive players, and even on the power play/penalty kill. It doesn’t do him much good to play 5 minutes a night with Homer and Mursak since he’s not a grinder. Oh well. One day, when I am the coach…
While I am happy about Nyquist (!!!) getting called up (paging Captain Obvious…), I still would like Tomas “THE SOUSE” Tatar to get in a few games with the Wings this year. Based on the game I saw, he’s one of the hardest workers on the Griffins. I know his offensive numbers haven’t been as high as we’d like them to be, but I think it’s because he’s been in the AHL for three seasons now – time to -bleep- or get off the pot. It’s the same with Brendan Smith. After three years in college and one in the AHL, he was bored. Now that he’s with the Wings, he’s been pretty good so far. I am not against Nyquist (!!!) spending the rest of the season in the AHL while THE SOUSE gets a couple of games in the NHL just to see where he’s at.
Now that the non-homer professional part is done, let’s get back to what’s really important. THE RED WINGS HAVE CALLED UP GUSTAV NYQUIST (!!!) AND I AM GOING TO GO TO THE GAME! GO WINGS!!
