With the countdown until October and reaching that final threshold before the puck drops in the regular season Fansided is going to take a look at each team in the league one day at a time.
Today we are checking in with those snowbirds down in Hockeytown South.
Ever since Steve Yzerman took over as General Manager as the Tampa Bay Lightning many in Hockeytown have started referring to it as Hockeytown South – and who can blame us when we filled the St. Pete Times Forum with a sea of red that would of made the Washington Capitals blush.

Vladislav Namestnikov: This year’s first-round pick for the Lightning, and 27th overall in the NHL, Namestnikov, only 18-years-old, already has history with the team, being the nephew of former Red Wing and teammate of Steve Yzerman, Slava Kozlov.
The team lost faces like Sean Bergenheim and Simon Gagne, but overall, not too much has significantly changed for the Tampa Bay Lightning when it comes to the roster. It seems that they are out to prove that last season’s team wasn’t a one-hit wonder and that this is a consistent team when it comes down to making a genuine Stanley Cup playoff run.
