Campbell out, Shanahan in

It took less than fifteen minutes, after the announcement that NHL head of discipline Colin Campbell was handing over that title to Brendan Shanahan, for Twitter to pull out the tin foil hats.

It’s simple – Shanahan is going to play favorites with the Red Wings of course being that he spent his entire career with them and is going to let their star winger Matt Cooke go about bashing player’s skulls in.

Wait? What?

Maybe it is Tampa he'll be bias for?

So where is that same paranoia now about St. Louis Blues tough guy Cam Janssen getting away with whatever he wants when he has his five minutes of ice team every few games? Or maybe he’ll allow goalies Henrik Lundqvist and Jimmy Howard from his former Red Wings and Rangers teams to go at it center ice ala Mike Vernon and Patrick Roy style.

More realistically I personally just think Shanahan is going to revamp everything. What do you do with a broken system? You fix it.

Already last summer he held camps, and fixed the All-Star game – now he’s onto fixing the leagues’ joke of a discipline system. Maybe make one for refs too (now wouldn’t that be great if they were held responsible for their shit).

Just a guess but I am thinking a team in Winnipeg wont be the only big change to the NHL for next season.
