Local goalie drafted by OHL passes away

The hockey world has suffered yet another loss today.

Ian Jenkins a goalie from Ypsilanti whom was drafted by the Ontario Hockey Leage’s London Knights and was set to be at a mini camp this past weekend; however, he spent the time fighting for his life at the University of Michigan hospital.

Jenkins suffered a head injury after an automobile accident. I have read several different accounts of the story of the injury and rather than publish false facts I will just leave it at he was critically injured and was taken to U of M where this morning he lost his fight.

A mere fifteen years old Jenkins had just opened the door to the next stage on his path to a hockey career to join fellow Michigander’s Ryan Miller and Tim Thomas to the National Hockey League.
