Captain Nicklas Lidstrom at the All-Star Game (Tom Turk)

Headed for Heartbreak at Home

They say you’re not in trouble until you lose a game at home. Well The Red Wings dropped two on the road and now one at home putting down by three to the San Jose Sharks. If that doesn’t say you are in trouble I don’t know what does.

It doesn’t seem to matter what the Red Wings do they just cannot beat the Sharks.

First game the Red Wings had the lead until nearing the end when the ended up losing it in overtime. The second game the Sharks dominated them. Game three saw the game become a bit more of a game with some back and fourth lead action; however, even that ended with a Sharks victory.

Last year Devin Setoguchi was enemy number one to Red Wings fans as he seemed to spend most of his ice time laying on it to draw penalties. This year Setoguchi is an overtime-goal-winning-hat-trick-scoring enemy.

Today is now do or die for Hockeytown. Facing elimination today if they are once again bitten by the Sharks. Two years in a row of the same post season path and the same (but yet different) road block. It is not Evgeni Nabokov but Antti Niemi that stands in the way.

The Red Wings have decided to not dress Mike Modano. Why? I am sure they have their reasons; but the guy had a terrible injury and should be allowed to play one last playoff game before he will probably retire. It isn’t like the boys are getting the job done anyway.

Lets face it Hockeytown – it’s beautiful outside like a calm before the storm. They boys wont go down with out a fight; but the war is most likely over.
